Installing C3 Agents

So you've gone and downloaded tons of agents for Creatures 3 or Docking Station, but you have not idea what to do with them? Well this FAQ should solve that problem.

Q: What Is an Agent?
A: An agent is an object that you can put into Creatures 3 or Docking Station. They come in all shapes and sizes and each one usually does something different.

Q: Who Makes agents and where can I find them?
A: Tons of People make agents and you can find them on just about every creatures website. I have a bunch on this website too. You can download them Here .

Q: Is there a difference between C3 and DS agents? A: YES! There's a big difference. When you download an agent the webpage will usually say which game the agent is for. If it say both, you can use it in both c3 and DS, if it says only c3 it can be used in C3 and DS *Docked*, if it says DS only, you can only use this agent in DS.

Q: Ok, well I unzipped everything, now what? A: Well first of all you should read the ReadMe file that comes with the Agent. Almost all have them and they should tell you how to install them. If not, here's how:
To Install an agent you plan to only use in Creatures 3, follow these steps:
1. Find the "My Agents" folder in the Creatures 3 directory. (If you didn't change anything at setup it should be C:/Program Files/Creatures 3/My Agents)
2. Put the .agent file that came in the .zip into this folder.

To Install to DS:
1. Find the "My Agents" folder in the Creatures 3 directory. (If you didn't change anything at setup it should be C:/Program Files/Docking Station/My Agents)
2. Put the .agent file that came in the .zip into this folder.

Q: Wait, there's more files then just the .agent and readme file! A: Ok, don't panic, the solution is simple. Look at this chart for an explanation of where everything goes.
Note: This chart gives just the folder it should go in. These folders are located in Your Creatures 3 or Docking Station folders. You should put these files in the same folder as you put the .agent file (ie. if you put bob.agent in the "Docking Station/My Agents" folder, bob.wav should go in the "Docking Station/Sounds" Folder, NOT the "Creatures 3/Sounds" folder.

Please note that putting a .cos file in your bootstrap directory will cause this file to be loaded every time you start a new world. If this agent starts causing problems, delete the .cos file!

Q: How do I get the agent into my world?
A: In Creatures 3 there is a machine called the creator (on the far right side of the bridge). After you have the agent in the My Agents Folder, turn on the machine (it's the blue/green flashing button) and then use the arrows to scroll to the agent you want to inject. Push the inject button and the agent should come flying out of the machine.

In DS you must go to the comms room (click the middle door in the middle room.) On the Comms screen, click the button that has the wheel on it. This will show a list of all agents in your "My Agents" Folder. Find the one you want to inject and click the big green tick.

Q: How do I remove an agent? A: Find the place where you inject the agent (either the creator or the comms screen), select the agent you wish to get rid of and click the X. This will get rid of *all* of the selected agent, not just one. If you want it back, just reinject it.
